Redlands offers series of Lego engineering classes for kids [Redlands Daily Facts, Calif.] Feb. 4 The city of Redlands Recreation Division is offering a series of virtual Lego engineering classes for children ages 5-12, beginning Feb. 25. A live Play-Well TEKnologies instructor will teach the classes in secured Zoom meetings, according to a news release. Participants will build engineer-designed projects and learn new building techniques. The series begins with STEM Fundamentals, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 25-March 18. Cost is $78. Spring break classes are Adventures in STEM, 10-11 a.m. Monday through Friday, March 22-26; and STEM Exploration, 10-11 a.m. Monday through Friday, March 29-April 2. Cost for each spring break class is $98.

The eastbound closures will last from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and are slated between Base Line and Fifth Street in Highland the nights of Monday, Feb. 1; Tuesday, Feb. 2; and Thursday, Feb. 4. A closure between Fifth Street in Highland and San Bernardino Avenue in Redlands is slated for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Gavin Newsom lifted statewide stay-at-home orders Monday, Jan. 25, Riverside County’s coronavirus numbers continued to trickle downward, as a post-holiday surge appears to be ending. On Monday, 6,011 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the county, for a total of 264,363. Riverside County does not update COVID-19 figures over the weekend, so this number almost certainly includes cases from Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan. 24, as well. A total of 264,363 cases have been recorded in the county. Similarly, on Monday, the county reported another 80 COVID-19 deaths, after not reporting any deaths Saturday and Sunday. A total of 2,857 Riverside County residents have died of the coronavirus. In comparison, the county set a record of 118 deaths on Jan. 18.

Eastbound 210 Freeway to be closed weeknights in Highland [Redlands Daily Facts, Calif.] Jan. 20 All eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway are set to be closed weeknights this week in Highland due to a widening and interchange project. The closure is scheduled for 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, with the last closure set to end Saturday morning. The lanes will be closed at either Base Line, or Fifth Street, as needed, though not both at the same time. Fifth Street will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. those nights. Ramps at Fifth and at Base Line will also be closed several nights this week. Other nighttime lane and ramp closures are possible in the project area between Del Rosa Avenue in San Bernardino and the 10 Freeway in Redlands.
