Debbie Robinson acclaimed as Warden of Renfrew County for second term

Pembroke, ON, Canada / 104.9 Pembroke Today Dec 15, 2020 11:31 AM Laurentian Valley Reeve Debbie Robinson has been acclaimed as Warden for the County of Renfrew for a second term.  The inaugural meeting took place virtually this morning (Tuesday, December 15th).  Topics discussed included the expansion of broadband, work on Highway 17, the community paramedicine program, a push for sustainable funding for the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RCVTAC), the announcement of the 2022 Ontario Winter games coming to Renfrew County in addition to expanding the Algonquin Trail. Special guests included MP Cheryl Gallant, MPP John Yakabuski, Algonquins of Pikwakanagan Chief Wendy Jocko, Minister of Heritage, Tourism and Sport Lisa McLeod, Garrison Petawawa commander Colonel John Vass along with Mayors from all 17 municipalities in the County of Renfrew and the City of Pembroke.

Article content There were an additional eight positive cases of COVID-19 in Renfrew County and district reported on the weekend, including seven related to the outbreak in Whitewater Region. As of Dec. 13, 59 people from the Mennonite community in Whitewater Region had tested positive for COVID-19 following three testing clinics. A student from the Pembroke area has also tested positive according to the updated case summary posted on the Renfrew County and District Health Unit website on Sunday. Active cases of COVID-19 in Renfrew County and district cut in half as 33 considered resolved since Sunday

Article content The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Renfrew County and district has been cut in half. On Dec. 14, the Renfrew County and District Health Unit case summary noted just 32 active cases with all of the individuals self-isolating, down from 65 active cases the day before. The summary shows 169 of the 202 total cases considered resolved with one death attributed to the virus early on in the pandemic. Many of those resolved cases are in the Whitewater Region Mennonite community, which had 26 active cases on Dec. 14, down from 59 the day before. The active cases breakdown is 26 for Whitewater Region, three for Pembroke and area, two in Renfrew and area and one in Arnprior and area.
