Texas fugitive arrested in Apple Valley on attempted murder charge Victorville Daily Press Authorities announced Tuesday that deputies in Apple Valley arrested 19-year-old Cody Dupnik, a fugitive in Texas, on suspicion of the attempted murder of a 23-year-old man.  Officials with the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at approximately 6:56 p.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the 20000 block of Wisconsin Street regarding a stabbing.  Deputies at the scene found that the suspect, later identified as Dupnik, of Spring Branch, Texas, had stabbed an unidentified 23-year old man twice in the neck during an argument, the report said. Dupnik and the victim are acquaintances and were at a residence near Deep Creek and Rock Spring roads when the attack took place, officials said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, a work crew began razing the nearly 30-year-old building on the property located on Mariposa Road in Victorville, said Paul Emery, the owner of Emery Concrete & Asphalt Recycling in Hesperia. “The building will be gone and down to the slab by the end of the week,” Emery, 57, told the Daily Press on Tuesday.

Hesperia man arrested for alleged assault and firearm violations

Victorville Daily Press Authorities on Monday, said deputies recently arrested a Hesperia resident in Victorville on suspicion of injuring a female and for firearm violations.  The Victorville Sheriff’s Station reported that at 11:13 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the report of an assault at the Travelodge Inn in the 12100 block of Mariposa Road. At the scene, deputies discovered that the suspect, later identified as Chad Evan Young, 24, allegedly struck a 25-year-old female victim several times in the face and head with a firearm and his fist. The unidentified victim, who knew the suspect, suffered multiple lacerations and a broken tooth. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the sheriff’s report said.

Section of Main Street in Hesperia to close Sunday for Highway 395 repairs Victorville Daily Press The city of Hesperia announced Friday that Caltrans will close a portion of Main Street this weekend for emergency road repair on Highway 395. The city reported that Main Street will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, between Mesa Linda Street and Highway 395 to allow Caltrans to conduct emergency asphalt repairs on the highway. Caltrans spokeswoman Teri Kasinga told the Daily Press on Friday that repairs would be conducted mostly on the northbound lanes of Highway 395 near Main Street. The portion of Main Street scheduled for closure is located west of Interstate 15 and the High Desert Gateway shopping center.

Chick-fil-A, CarMax among projects expected in Victorville in 2021

Chick-fil-A, CarMax among projects expected in new year Victorville Daily Press The construction of a Chick-fil-A restaurant is one of several new business developments planned for the new year in Victorville.  City spokeswoman Sue Jones shared with the Daily Press a list of major business and infrastructure projects expected to begin in 2021. One project that has received much attention is the Chick-fil-A restaurant coming to Mariposa Road near Interstate 15.  Earlier this year, the city Planning Commission issued permits to Chick-fil-A to demolish the building formerly occupied by a Marie Callender’s restaurant.  Once the building is removed and the property cleared, the company will construct a 5,088-square-foot restaurant that will include patio seating and a double drive-thru.
