MADRID â The 2021 class leaders for Madrid-Waddington Central School have been announced.
Cum Laude
Benjamin Averill, the son of Carla and Matt Averill, will graduate with an Advanced Regents diploma with Mastery in Science. He plans to attend SUNY Oswego, to major in zoology and has earned the Presidential Scholarship.
Taylor Bettinger, daughter of Nichole and Randel Bettinger, will graduate with a Regents diploma with Technical Endorsement. She plans to pursue a college degree in biology or law.
Riley Burke, daughter of Eric and Michelle Burke, will graduate with an Advanced Regents diploma with Mastery in Math. She plans to attend SUNY Potsdam, majoring in elementary education, where she earned a Deanâs Scholarship.

May 10, 2021 All students at New York s public universities will be required to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus this fall.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the new requirement for SUNY and CUNY students at a press briefing today in New York City. You must have a vaccine to come back [to campus] in September, Cuomo said.
In a statement on Monday, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras thanked the governor for the state s testing and vaccination efforts on SUNY campuses during the pandemic.

One of the country’s largest oil and gas pipelines running from Texas to New Jersey was forced to shut down on Friday after a cybersecurity attack - and the Northeast could experience increasing gas prices after the pipeline’s operator, Colonial Pipeline, immediately shut down the pipeline to contain the threat.
While small segments of the pipeline have opened up, four of the operator’s main lines remained closed on Monday. The operator said the pipeline won’t be “substantially” restored until the end of the week, in a statement released Monday.

MADRID The Madrid-Waddington Central School has announced its class leaders of the graduating class of 2020-2021. These students have achieved the designation of Cum Laude with distinction and Magna Cum Laude with great distinction , and Summa Cum Laude with highest distraction having a grade point average of 90, 93 or 95 or better respectively.

Benjamin Averill, son of Carla and Matt Averill, plans to attend SUNY Oswego, majoring in Zoology and has earned the Presidential Scholarship.
While attending MWCS, Averill participated in chorus, Stardust singing group, select choir, drama club, varsity club and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also demonstrated great leadership skills while playing soccer, hockey, baseball and working a part time job. Averill earned an Advanced Regents diploma with mastery in science.
