(KEYC) Renville County Public Health announced Wednesday it will be offering two community vaccination clinics. The vaccine clinics are scheduled for Thursday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 18. Appointments are required to receive a vaccine at any of the offered clinics and can be scheduled by visiting www.RenvilleCountyMN.com. Renville County Public Health will be offering the Moderna brand vaccine for residents receiving their first dose. Vaccines are free and eligible to anyone 18 years and older.

fbusch@nujournal.com BROWN COUNTY Brown County Public Health reported 29 new COVID-19 cases Monday, April 12 since the last report on April 9. New, laboratory-confirmed cases ranged in age from under age 10 to individuals in their 60s. Public health reported 2,912 total confirmed cases, 99 active cases in isolation, 2,774 total cases out of isolation and 39 COVID-19-related deaths. “We encourage people seeking COVID-19 vaccines to sign up on our wait list on our Facebook site or call our office at 507-233-6820,” said Brown County Public Health Supervisor Jaime Brand. The Brown County COVID-19 dashboard reported 142 total hospitalizations and 17 individuals in ICU Monday. Confirmed COVID-19 cases by month in 2021 are 210 in January, 211 in February, 313 in March and 162 in April so far.

One year later, Renville County s first COVID-19 case remains vigilant John O Neill did everything right when he suspected he might be Renville County s first to test positive for COVID-19 last year. Because of it, he is credited with helping prevent community spread early in the pandemic. Today, John and wife Pat are vaccinated and doing well, but remain vigilant about masking and practicing social distance protocols. 8:00 pm, Apr. 6, 2021 × Renville County Public Health was holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic as Pat and John O Neill met with reporters to discuss how the past year has gone since John became the first to test positive for COVID-19 in the county, and as one of the first rural residents in all of the state. Now vaccinated, they are starting to get out of the home more but remain vigilant about masking and social distance protocols.
