A look at the recommendations officials will consider View Comments GRAND LEDGE - A set of recommendations from a 23-member committee focused on addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion at Grand Ledge Public Schools will likely be considered by school officials sometime in August, said Sara Clark Pierson, Board of Education president. The district s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee was created last June less than a month after Brian Metcalf, the district s former superintendent, posted Facebook comments blaming George Floyd for his own death at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis. Metcalf s comments prompted current and former students to come forward and relay their own experiences with racism in the school district. Metcalf was fired last fall.
