Food security is one of the main issues Randolph County residents face, according to a 2019 Community Health Assessment. Through the Master Gardener Volunteers program, the Randolph County Cooperative Extension is training people to extend educational opportunities that improve the community.
The program wants volunteers to foster an understanding of where food comes from, how it is produced and cultivate environmental stewardship within the community. The initiative also supports the health and well-being of the community through gardening to promote access to fresh and healthy foods.
