RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. A man is facing animal cruelty charges after several dogs were found dead, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they discovered the dogs last week at a house on Kings Mountain Road in Asheboro. One of the dogs was dead inside a kennel in an outbuilding and two others found deceased inside the house. Deputies said they also seized multiple extremely malnourished dogs from the house.

A Lexington man arrested last week after being found passed out behind a wheel of a vehicle with a gun was charged with trafficking in Davidson County on Friday after law enforcement recovered over nine ounces of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

On April 16, Zackery Lee Yarborough, 34, of 4770 N.C. Highway 47, was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine; felony possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for the sell or delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Upon arrival, three subjects at the residence had sustained gunshot wounds. Robert Lewis Spencer, 27 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals.
On April 4, 2021, Jessie Jaquan Pratt, who was shot during the incident on Plummer Street, was released from the hospital and taken into custody. According to the Randolph County Sheriff Office, further investigation of the shooting resulted in Pratt’s arrest for Felony First Degree Murder.
He is confined at the Randolph County Detention Center without bond. His first appearance in Randolph County District Court is scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2021
