Three people were injured in the crash. VALLEY HEAD Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident early Friday morning, with two people being sent to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, police said. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office police report states a 2006 Chevy Trail Blazer driven by Hope Marie Haslam, 34, of Valley Head, was heading north toward Huttonsville when she lost control of the vehicle on icy road conditions.

Man arrested after allegedly threatening store clerk with gun

The Courier-Tribune A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a store clerk at gunpoint, the Randolph County Sheriff s Office said.  On Wednesday, Feb. 3, William Patrick Poston, 34, reportedly entered the Mountain View Mart in Sophia, pulled a gun from his coat pocket and threatened the clerk, according to a press release from the Sheriff s Office. Poston and the clerk previously dated, the release said.  Once deputies arrived, Poston had left the store. While deputies were trying to obtain an arrest warrant, someone called 911 from the area of Summey Town Rd. and Ross Wood Rd. in Asheboro about a car matching the description of the one Poston was driving. 

Piedmont: Deputies arrest wanted man after 2 weeks on the loose

Updated: 1:09 PM EST Feb 4, 2021 Authorities in North Carolina said they found a wanted man hiding in a false bottom in the floor of a home and had to remove a wall to get him out. Dustin Diehl was found Thursday morning at a home in Denton. Police said Diehl was wanted for assault and had also led authorities on multiple chases. Name released in South Elkins SWAT standoff | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer ELKINS The Elkins Police Department has released the name of the man who apparently shot himself during an incident involving a SWAT team last week on Evans Drive. Ty Garrett Hilderbrand, 35, was the individual who barricaded himself inside a home and was found dead of an apparent suicide after an hours-long standoff with area law enforcement agencies the evening of Jan. 21, Elkins Police Chief Travis Bennett said Thursday. Hilderbrand had recently moved to Elkins from Missouri and was living with a woman at the residence, neighbors to the home told The Inter-Mountain. During the standoff incident he was alone in the house, authorities said. Hilderbrand was born in Norman, Oklahoma, and was a 2004 graduate of Purcell High School.
