Mr Bogle said: “We are putting coasters on the bottom and in the nice weather we will wheel it outside. We have already had book donations so it will be ready for our reopening.”

70 bags of rubbish collected in Evenwood and Ramshaw

14 Apr 2021 HAPPY TO HELP: Gordon Nicholson retrieves litter from the kerbside EVENWOOD and surrounding villages of Ramshaw and Evenwood Gate are looking spick and span following a third litter pick in as many months. In the latest village event about 40 people, including children, took to the streets to collect more than 70 bags of rubbish. The initiative was started earlier this year by resident Ray Swainston along with Randolph Community Centre manager John Bogle after the problem was highlighted on the village’s Facebook page. The initial litter pick attracted about three dozen people and 67 bags were collected. Of the latest event Mr Bogle said: “We have picked up well over 200 bags of rubbish over the three litter picks. It just shows how much of a problem it is. Everyone had commented about how tidy and clean it is now.
