Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Canadians lovingly packed 373,188 shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and many other items during the 2020 Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign that recently ended.
In total, Manitoba residents packed 25,491 shoeboxes for children in need, with Portage la Prairie having contributed 1,527 boxes.

Distribution of the shoeboxes around the world has already begun. During the next few weeks, children in Central America and western Africa will be receiving shoeboxes packed by caring Canadians.

Ontario residents – including some from Chatham, Wallaceburg and Sarnia – packed over 131,000 shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items and school supplies for children in Central America and western Africa.
This was part of Samaritan’s Purse’s 2020 Operation Christmas Child campaign. The boxes can still be packed online at www.PackaBox.ca.

Chatham residents have contributed 1,348 boxes, Wallaceburg residents have contributed 330 boxes and Sarnia residents have contributed 747 boxes.
Exeter, Seaforth and Goderich did not have collection centres this year, but in Canada, more than 373,000 boxes were packed for the 2020 campaign.
