Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium Reopens Now that some of the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted in Michigan, theaters can reopen. That also means that the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium, located at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, will be reopening. Beginning on Tuesday, December 22nd, the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium will be welcoming visitors on a limited capacity basis. The Planetarium will host multiple shows every week. This week will include the holiday show, Let it Snow, as well as other shows Ice Worlds , Incoming! , and Under Starlit Skies . Just in time for the holidays, the “Let it Snow” program is a festive light show. It features a variety of classic songs from greats like Chuck Berry, Burl Ives, Brenda Lee, and Frank Sinatra. There is also a stunning finale by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The music is visually enhanced with animation, special effects, and full-dome scenery.

Chaffee Planetarium will reopen and welcome visitors on a limited capacity basis starting on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020. The Chaffee Planetarium will host multiple shows per week. The schedule beginning this week will include the holiday show, Let it Snow, as well as other shows Incoming!, Under Starlit Skies and Ice Worlds. Planetarium tickets are $2 for Museum members, $4 each with general admission to the Museum and $5 each for planetarium only tickets. The Grand Rapids Public Museum a publicly owned institution that houses 250,000+ artifacts. The Grand Rapids Public Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, with its main location in downtown Grand Rapids at 272 Pearl Street. Courtney Sheffer, Marketing Director for West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA), joined Fox 17 live to share a few fun winter break ideas that are safe for all families. First, Grand Rapids Public Museum is hosting Snowflake Break Camps for students in 1st through 6th grade. They can participate either in-person or virtually to explore science, history, and culture. This takes place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from December 21 to 30.
