Drugs seized; man charged - Fullerton Cove

A man has been charged with commercial drug supply following a vehicle stop in Newcastle. About 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 7 May 2021), police from Port Stephens – Hunter Police District stopped a car on Maitland Road in Sandgate. Officers spoke to the driver, a 58-year-old man, before conducting a search of his vehicle. During the search, police located and seized methylamphetamine and cocaine. The drugs were seized, and the man was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. A short time later a search warrant was executed at the man’s Fullerton Cove home. During the search, police located and seized further prohibited drugs, along with a large sum of cash, silver and gold bars, and silver bullions.

A Hunter man has been charged on outstanding warrants for serious domestic violence-related and firearms offences. Police were called to Truscott Street, Raymond Terrace about 5.30 this morning, after a man tried to get into a home. Officers say the 29-year-old man was wanted on four outstanding arrest warrants. When police arrived at the home, the man was inside. He tried to leave through a roof cavity, but was stopped by officers, before he was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. The 29-year-old was charged with a string of offences including stalking/intimidation and disqualified driving. He was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court tomorrow.

A drunk driver will face court next month after he lost control and crashed into a parked car this morning. The 35-year-old was driving a Mazda 6 west along Sandy Point Road at Corlette, just before 5am, when he rolled the vehicle, which landed on its roof near Foreshore Drive. The man wasn’t injured but returned a positive breath test. He was taken to Nelson Bay Police Station and returned a high-range breath analysis reading of 0.176. He was charged, and his licence was suspended. He’ll appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday, January 25.
