Determined to promote change and contribute towards mitigating the effects of climate change in Fiji, Tevita Dakuiboca participated in Fiji’s first National Youth Climate Action summit in Suva last month.
The Lokia Youth Club president said he believed starting awareness at grassroots level could lead to big changes in the near future.
“I look after the youth club in my village where we try to do work which will help protect our village and our country from the impacts of climate change,” he said.
“As Lokia Village is located near the Rewa River, whenever it is high tide the village gets flooded and this affects us all.”

NEWS:
The big one is on the Draft Police Bill 2020.
A shocking revelation in Levuka that quite a number of people’s knowledge of the draft Police Bill 2020 was derived from what they read in The Fiji Times.
This came to light at the inaugural face-to-face consultation on the proposed legislation in the Old Capital where participants expressed concern about how little they knew about the contents of the proposed Bill.
PAGES 2 & 3:
Many people who attended the first face-to-face public consultation on the draft Police Bill 2020 said they learnt of the contents of the proposed legislation in articles which appeared in The Fiji Times.
