Man arrested after failing to stop at a garda checkpoint in Cork
A man has been charged in relation to a dangerous driving incident in Co Cork at the weekend.
Gardaí say the driver of a car failed to stop at a checkpoint in Kanturk at around 5pm on Saturday.
The car was followed as part of a managed containment operation and was observed being driven at high speed and on the wrong side of the road.
The car came to a stop when it crashed at a roundabout in Raheen Industrial Estate in Limerick.
Man Arrested And Charged In Relation To A Dangerous Driving Incident On Easter Sunday In North Cork
Gardaí followed the car at a safe distance and witnessed it travelling at high speed and on the wrong side of the road on occasions.
The car was eventually involved in a single vehicle collision at a roundabout in Raheen Industrial Estate, Limerick.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and was brought to Roxboro Road Garda Station where he was later charged
He is due before Kilmallock District Court this evening at 5pm.

The driver agreed but at some point in the journey, the passenger threatened the driver with a knife and demanded to be driven to Portlaoise.
As the car approached a petrol station in Portlaoise, the driver managed to jump from the car, receiving minor injuries which did not require medical treatment at the time.
The driver immediately reported the matter to Gardaí and following an investigation a man was arrested in Tallaght shortly after 9pm.
He was brought to Roxboro Road Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been charged.
He is due to appear before Kilmallock District Court on Tuesday evening at 5pm.

Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in relation to a terrifying car hijacking incident on Sunday, April 4.
At around 5pm, a man was sitting in his car in the O’Malley Park area of Limerick when he was asked for a lift by a man, which he agreed to. At some stage during the journey the passenger threatened the driver with what is believed to be a knife and demanded he drive him to Portlaoise.
The driver managed to jump from the car as they approached a petrol station in Portlaoise. He received minor injuries but did not require medical treatment at the time. The driver immediately reported the matter to Gardaí and following an investigation a man, aged in his late 20s, was arrested in Tallaght shortly after 9pm.

Portlaoise was at the centre of a terrifying ordeal for a Limerick motorist who was forced to drive his car at knifepoint to the Laois town this week.
