The Rochester City School District officials are reminding families that support services are still in place. You can t learn if you don t feel good. You know, like that Maslow hierarchy of need. That psychological and physical need has to be a number one priority, so that we take care of your needs, your feelings, your emotions we re supporting you. So that then you can learn, said Melody Martinez-Davis, deputy superintendent for student support services.

Finalists named for APS superintendent

It’s down to four. The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education chose its superintendent finalists on Friday, and Scott Elder, the man currently running the district, made the cut. The four finalists are: ...................... • Ignacio Ruiz, assistant superintendent, Clark County School District, Las Vegas, Nevada. • Ushma Shah, assistant superintendent of elementary schools, instruction and equity, School District U-46, Elgin, Illinois. • Elder, APS interim superintendent. Elder was the district’s former chief operations officer who was appointed to the role. The board voted 6-1 for the finalists. Peggy Muller-Aragon said she voted against them because the public was kept out of the conversation.

The vote happened Thursday night, with 88% of representatives voting in favor. A number of teachers have voiced concerns about bringing more students back to the classroom.
