ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) The Rochester Housing Authority is slated to receive $8.9 million in funds allocated to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by the American Rescue Plan.
The plan, passed last month, allocated $4.925 billion in funding intended to give states the flexibility to best meet the needs of people experiencing or at risk of becoming homeless.
It s the first of two rounds of funding.
HUD says it will announce the allocation of funding for emergency vouchers for people experiencing and at-risk of homelessness in the coming weeks.
The money must be spent by 2030.

Qualifying residents of the Hudson Ridge Tower received their second and final dose. We re really proud of the partnership with Rochester Housing Authority to bring vaccines to the most vulnerable populations, Vice President of Pharmacy Mark Malahosky said. Monroe County announced Thursday it s further expanding vaccine access into Rochester neighborhoods.
