Rochdale Sixth Form College has won the sixth-form college of the year award at the 2021 Tes FE Awards, announced on Friday evening (28 May) in a virtual ceremony.
The Tes FE Awards, now in their 11 year, celebrate the outstanding aspects of the UK’s FE sector, applauding excellence and rewarding innovation.

Middleton’s new forthcoming high school, Edgar Wood Academy, will open to students in September 2021 at a temporary site at Hopwood Hall’s Middleton campus.
The planning permission for both the temporary site at Hopwood Hall, Middleton campus, and the permanent site have been approved and the contractors will shortly be breaking ground and starting work.
The funding agreement for Edgar Wood Academy has been signed by the Secretary of State for Education, marking significant progress in the pre-opening phase of the academy secondary school.

Rochdale Sixth Form College has been shortlisted for the Sixth Form College of the Year accolade in this year s TES Further Education (FE) Awards.
The college s principal, Richard Ronksley, said: “Being shortlisted for the award is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the incredible work our staff and students have done over the last year – it really is a really big well done to one and all.”
Five other colleges have made the shortlist in the Sixth Form College of the Year category of the awards, which look to celebrate and reward the dedication and expertise of the people and teams who make a significant contribution to improving the skill levels of young people and adult learners.

Rochdale Sixth Form College has been awarded a silver accreditation by the community interest company Investors in People.
The college has been awarded the “We invest in people” silver accreditation, which is achieved by only 15% of organisations assessed by Investors in People.
Richard Ronksley, Principal of Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “I would like to thank all our staff in contributing to and supporting us during this accreditation process and I am delighted with Silver.
“The success of Rochdale Sixth Form College is due to the work and commitment of a very special, dedicated staff body. The online staff survey showed that over 97% of our staff felt the organisation made a positive impact on society and I could not be prouder of the work we undertake to inspire and motivate our students to achieve their ambitions and potential.”
