Walker has Jared Padalecki go undercover as Duke with Episode 1 05 plus get shirtless

We’re somehow already on episode 5 of “Walker’s” first season, and starting to feel a little bit like we’re getting to know the characters. This episode, however, let us get to know someone else a little – Walker’s undercover alter ego, Duke.  It was an interesting glimpse into what those ten months were like for him when he was gone, and just how deeply he lost himself in this other persona. If I look at that from my psychologist perspective, it seems like Cordell wasn’t ready to adapt to the loss of his wife, so he threw himself into an entirely different world. Became someone who hadn’t been in love with Emily and hadn’t lost her; someone who could immerse himself in another romantic relationship way before Cordell himself was ready to do that, even if he was ‘pretending’ some of the time. It’s not the healthiest coping strategy for grieving, and it had a negative impact on his family, but it’s becoming a little clearer why Walker stayed away all that

Walker - Duke - Review

Fine. I’m all in. This was easily my favorite episode so far. It was a little bit of everything the show does well, relationships and the past. Not to mention Padalecki’s easy chemistry with everyone. Also, I think I might have a wee little crush. It was all the baby dolls and girls and the twang. Ignore me. Let’s get started. We start with a flashback. Four months earlier, Walker, as Duke Culpepper, is working at a rodeo. It’s here that we meet Twyla Jean. I’m a fan. I mean, I know she’s going to be no good, but there’s just something about her. Also, Duke Culpepper is still a stupid name.

Walker - Pilot - Review

Walker on the CW? I was, but that isn’t what we got, and I’m not mad. Did I love the first episode? No. I’m not even sure that I liked it, but I didn’t hate it either. I’m viewing it as what it was an information dump. I can only hope that the threads dangled in this episode end up paying off as the season and series progress. It’s the first one, so it’s a long one. The episode opens with Walker greeting his wife Emily, played by Padalecki’s real-life wife, Genevive. Emily’s about to leave to deliver supplies, but it doesn’t sound like a simple charitable donation because Walker gives her a specific route. We all know this isn’t going to end well, which is too bad because we didn’t know this Emily for long, but I liked her. A final kiss, then they go their separate ways.
