Arjun Lal and Arvind will be the only Indian rowers in Tokyo Games which open on July 23 Indian rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh qualified for the Olympics in men’s lightweight double sculls event after finishing second in the final race of the Asia/Oceania Continental Qualifying Regatta in Tokyo on Friday.

Tokyo, May 6 (IANS): India s Jakar Khan has emerged as a strong contender for an Olympic quota place in the men s single scull after his preliminary round performance in the World Rowing Asia and Oceania Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta on Thursday.
Khan posted a time of 8 minutes 07.32 seconds to finish second in his heats. His performance was fourth fastest among the 14 competitors who are fighting for five quota places.
The Indian rower has advanced to the semi-final stage of the competition. But he has to sustain his efforts on Friday as only three top athletes in each of the semi-finals will get a chance to enter the finals.

New Delhi, May 5 : Indian rowers were greeted with windy conditions at the Olympic regatta course in Tokyo s Sea Forest Waterway which forced the cancellation of World Rowing Asia and Oceania Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta. A nine-member Indian squad, including four in the women s category, are participating in the Asian Olympic qualification event. The programme has been revised due to tricky local weather conditions. The competition will start on Thursday and conclude on Friday, an official of the Rowing Federation of India (RFI) told IANS.

NEW DELHI: Wing Commander Shantanu, a serving officer of the Indian Air Force, has been selected to represent India at the World Rowing Asia/ Oceania Continental Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta which is going to be held in May 2021 in Tokyo.
He picked up the sport in April 2019 and was selected by the Rowing Federation of India for the October 2019 Asian Rowing Training Camp and Championship which was held in South Korea. He finished 5th in Asia and became the First Indian Paraplegic to represent India at the event.

As many as 35 Indian rowers, including those preparing for Tokyo Olympics qualification, were given their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, making them the first sports group in the country to get fully vaccinated.
Apart from the 35 rowers, some coaches and other support staff were also given their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday at the Army Sports Institute in Pune. A total of 35 rowers and some coaches and support staff at ASI Pune received their second dose on Saturday, Rowing Federation of India President Rajlaxmi Singh Deo told PTI on Sunday.
The 35 include those who have been selected to compete in the World Rowing Asia Oceania Continental Qualification Regatta event to be held in Tokyo from May 5-7.
