Four years later, Canton fatal hit-skip haunts dad

PLAIN TWP.  Four years of grief and frustration has Jessie Herring taking a cynical view of local law enforcement s efforts to locate the driver responsible for his daughter s death. Jessica Herring, 33, was struck while walking on U.S. Route 62 near Rowland Avenue NE on the evening of Dec. 10, 2016. Her injuries were fatal. Stark County sheriff s deputies have yet to identify the motorist who failed to stop at the scene. As far as I am concerned, it has been a cold case all along, Jessie Herring said. They won t even talk to me. What kind of case do you see where the person (investigators) won t talk to the deceased person s parents? Yeah, I am getting the run-around.

Fort Atkinson police reports Dec 9

Wednesday, Dec. 9 Officers issued six traffic-related warnings, followed up on one 911 call, participated in one community policing event, performed two crime prevention services and handled one confidential incident related to suspicious activity. 2:26 a.m.: We Energies was notified of a street light that was out at the intersection of Roland Avenue and East Milwaukee Avenue. 8:40 a.m.: Officers on patrol stopped out at a traffic stop with a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy at the intersection of South Business State Highway 26 and Groeler Road but the deputy had everything under control and did not need any assistance. 9:53 a.m.: A 15-day correction notice was issued to a 26-year-old Fort Atkinson woman in the 300 block of South Main Street for nonregistration of vehicle and failing to provide proof of insurance.

GRPD searching for missing 82-year-old with dementia-like symptoms

Original 12/10/20: Authorities in Grand Rapids are hoping the public can help them locate a missing 82-year-old woman.  Marcella Mae Palmer has not been seen or heard from since around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8.  According to Grand Rapids Police, Palmer was dropped off at her home on Rowland Avenue SE. Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, her family went to pick her up but she and her vehicle were gone.  Palmer suffers from dementia-like symptoms, including memory loss and confusion. She also suffers from other medical issues. Palmer s family said based on similar events that have happened in the past, she may be in a grocery store or gas station parking lot likely Meijer.
