By Tuesday afternoon, South Jersey vaccination sites had followed federal guidance and paused all use of the one-shot vaccine.
Officials confirmed that the Moorestown Mall mega site, the Rowan College of South Jersey mega site and Camden County College, among others, had halted J&J vaccines, which gained emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Feb. 27.
But officials also confirmed that those who have appointments scheduled will be able to keep them. The big South Jersey sites will just switch those appointments to either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, depending on which product they have in stock.

For years, when it came to junior college baseball in South Jersey, all we heard about was Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland, formerly known as Cumberland County College. And rightfully so. Head coach Keith Gorman transformed the Dukes into a regional and national powerhouse, even winning a junior college Division III national title in 2019 before taking the head coaching job at NCAA Division II Barton College in North Carolina.
But all of a sudden there’s another program that is captivating baseball fans in the area, and it’s a story nobody really saw coming. For most of coach Rod Velardi’s 10 years at the helm at Atlantic Cape Community College, the Buccaneers were one of those teams Cumberland would beat up on during a run to another Region XIX championship.

The latest eligibility expansion prefigured President Joe Biden’s announcement that all adults must be eligible for the vaccination in all states by April 19, almost two full weeks earlier than his original deadline of May 1.

Some South Jersey inoculation sites are said to be so awash in precious vaccines that Gov. Phil Murphy announced at his Wednesday COVID-19 update that hundreds or thousands of appointments were available, especially at the mega-site operated by the state (withAtlantiCare) at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
In fact, by the time you read this, the governor and First Lady Tammy Murphy may have filled two of the Atlantic City slots. They’re slated to get their first vaccinations there today in an event that surely will be turned into a grinning photo-op.
