Lancashire’s most advanced surgical robotic system has performed its 1,000th procedure, three years after being introduced in one of the county s hospitals. The introduction of the DaVinci Xi robotic system, which conducted its first operation on May 3 2017, has meant Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is now able to improve outcomes for patients with cancer. Over the last three years the DaVinci Xi has performed many notable surgeries including the first upper gastrointestinal robotic tract surgery in the North West. The system was funded in the most part by Rosemere Cancer Foundation, who contributed a staggering £1.25m to get the DaVinci Xi in place at Royal Preston Hospital.
