Top 10 most-read Dear Abby columns for 2020: A loutish long-term boyfriend tops the list
Updated Jan 04, 2021;
Jeanne Phillips, also known as Dear Abby, covered problems ranging from wedding woes to sad spouses to COVID concerns in 2020. But the most-read column centered on a long-term relationship that took a shocking turn when a woman, recently diagnosed with cancer, dropped by her boyfriend’s home.
Although Abby dealt out plenty of advice to those dealing with the pandemic and all the problems that came with it, many of the most popular letters were from those dealing with age-old concerns including marital problems, defiant grandchildren and kids, and infidelity.

Not since 1226 have Jupiter and Saturn met up so closely in the night sky, and Portland will likely miss it.
This rare and bright “Christmas Star” event may not happen again until 2080, according to NASA and is the talk of sky watchers across the globe. But Portland is unlikely to see it.
“I’m not going to sugar coat it. It’s most likely a no-go,” said Dan Miller, science and operations officer for the National Weather Service in Portland.
Three County Wicklow designers will share €2,500 in funding due to their success in the Future Makers Awards 2020.
The Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) has presented awards and supports totalling €25,000 to 28 students and emerging designers and craftspeople through its Future Makers programme.
Among the successful Wicklow designers is Stephanie Sloan, a printmaker, who has been awarded studio support of €1,000. The judges appreciated her bold, simple images that embody a personal interpretation of Ireland and noted that this award will assist in the purchase of a key piece of equipment to allow for professional production of these beautifully crafted artworks.
