Gov. Andrew Cuomo told a briefing at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Monday afternoon that Western New York is doing much better in dealing with COVID-19 than it has been. He said that means the ban on elective surgery has been lifted and the state Health Department on Wednesday may ease the restrictions of Orange status for most of the region.
Winter has brought New York s worst stretch of the coronavirus crisis since May, with at least 4,800 dead from the virus in the past 30 days. But some numbers are improving, including plenty of capacity in regional hospitals.

I am not here to judge, just to give you information about the programs that New York State has to help you quit smoking. Yes, there are lots of statistics about why you should quit and the benefits to your health if you quit, but also think about how much money you will save! How much does a pack of cigarettes cost today? $10 plus?
I am not sure, because when I quit smoking a pack of cigarettes cost about $2.50. I believe it was Memorial Day 1997. Yes, as a former smoker, I remember the last time I had a cigarette. How did I do it? I don t recall exactly. Maybe I am blocking it? I just remember that was when I did it.
When several Western New York health care providers were in need of doses of the vaccine, a series of operational moves went into effect to get the doses out.

BUFFALO, N.Y. Erie County officials held a press conference Tuesday that primarily focused on the vaccine rollout and the lack of supply.
Appointments are now scheduled in Erie County through January 30. They ll be given out at three locations, and you ll find out where you need to go when you make your appointment. You can t just show up demanding the vaccine. You need an appointment.
People in Phase 1A aren t done yet getting their vaccines, and now we are in 1B and Erie County gets most of its vaccines from the New York State Department of Health. Right now, supplies are very limited. In fact, county officials said during the press conference that some appointments might have to be cancelled because there are only enough vaccines here in Erie County for the appointments for
