A mobile home fire in Rohnert Park has left two residents displaced. Firefighters and police officers were called to the Loma Verde Lane residence in the Las Casitas De Sonoma mobile home park at about 10 AM Monday morning. They arrived within two minutes to find a mobile home fully engulfed in smoke and fire. The residents had escaped but had been exposed to large amounts of smoke while rescuing their dogs. One of their dogs couldn’t be saved and was found dead inside the mobile home. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the other homes and damage was estimated at $100,000. The cause remains under investigation.
SAN FRANCISCO The United States Attorney s Office for the Northern District of California unsealed charges today in a criminal complaint charging former Rohnert Park police officers Brendon Jacy Tatum and Joseph Huffaker with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right, announced Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of California Stephanie M. Hinds, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Daniels, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig D. Fair. Tatum also is charged with falsification of records in a federal investigation and tax evasion.
According to the complaint, Tatum, from Santa Rosa, and Huffaker, from Rohnert Park, were employed as officers by the City of Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Police Services Patrol Division (RPDPS). Former police officers Brendon Jacy Tatum and Joseph Huffaker worked on a drug task force in Rohnert Park, a small city about an hour north of San Francisco. While on that team, they stopped vehicles along a 40-mile stretch of Highway 101 in Sonoma County.
