Rezaul appreciates officials for performing duties amid lockdown

DHAKA, April 20, 2021 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today appreciated officials of the ministry saying that they are able to keep the food chain across the country uninterrupted as officials are doing their jobs with utmost sincerity amid the ongoing lockdown.
“Although a lockdown is going on across the country, officials of the ministry are doing tremendous job by keeping the sale of livestock produces including fish, meat, milk, eggs continue at fair prices so that people of the country get foods at reasonable prices,” the minister said.
From April 5 to April 20, fish, beef, milk, eggs, poultry and dairy produces worth Tk 133.21 crore have been sold across the country, said a press release quoting the minister as saying.

Strict action if anyone found involved in hampering Hilsa resources: Rezaul

DHAKA, April 5, 2021 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said that strict action will be taken against those who would be involved hampering the development of Hilsa resources in the country.
“We will take strict action if anybody is found involved in hampering Hilsa resources,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the inaugural function of Jatka Conservation Week as the chief guest virtually from his official residence on Bailey Road in the capital, said a press release.

DHAKA, April 03, 2021 (BSS)- Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said that modern and scientific methods are being implemented for the sustainable development of the livestock sector in the country.
“The government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working to ensure sustainable development. We need to keep up with the discoveries of science for sustainable development. That is why we have set up a quality control laboratory. It will be possible to confirm whether the animal food that we will export or import from abroad is standard or nutritious through scientific experiments in this laboratory,” he said.
Bird Flu: Bangladesh suspends import of poultry, eggs from India
Dhaka, Jan 15 (UNI) Bangladesh has suspended all kind of chicken, eggs, poultry import from India as a precautionary move amid the outbreak of avian influenza or bird flu in several Indian states.
At the same time, a letter has been issued to the administrations of the border districts to prevent these animals from entering Bangladesh illegally.
Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh Raunak Mahmud said These are precautionary measures, although no bird flu cases have been reported in any district in Bangladesh so far.
