ISLAMABAD: The federal capital and the district of Rawalpindi on Sunday reported less than five per cent positivity rate and there was also no death reported from Covid-19.
In Islamabad, 156 people tested positive out of 3,761 tests with the positivity rate standing at 4.9 per cent against 3.98pc on Saturday.
With 70 new cases, the positivity rate further declined to 4.1pc in the Rawalpindi district against 6.9pc on Saturday. An official of the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS), requesting not to be quoted, said though the cases and positivity had reduced, opening of different sectors would be a major challenge.

KARACHI: As Punjab saw declining cases of the coronavirus, the situation in Sindh was becoming more precarious, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who warned on Sunday that hospitals were rapidly approaching capacity, with some of them completely full.
In a media briefing, Shah described how infections spiked in the province during the extended Eid holidays, which aimed to reduce the precaution-averse public’s mobility to reduce the momentum of the third wave of Covid-19. The province’s test positivity ratio was above 8 per cent.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday said that 156 new cases of coronavirus were reported from the federal capital during the last 24 hours.
According to an official of NCOC, as many as 146 cases were reported on Saturday while 221 cases were reported on Friday. He said so far 80,312 cases while 745 deaths were reported from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), adding that 71,939 patients have recovered from the deadly virus.

The Punjab government has released an outstanding amount of Rs120 million for the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant (RIUKT) to carry out remaining civil work and procuring necessary electro-medical equipment for treating kidney patients, a spokesperson said on Sunday.
In this regard, a letter of credit (LC) for the purchase of a modern 128-Slice CT scanner worth Rs110 million has been opened while an imported Rs70 million lithotripsy machine, for breaking stones through radiations, would be installed at the facility soon, they added.
