Deliberate homicide filed following Stevensville Christmas Day shooting

Trevor Matthew Looney, 33, of Stevensville has been charged with deliberate homicide as well as a felony drug charge in connection with the death of 39-year-old John Harvey Komotios.
Ravalli County Sheriff s Office deputies responded to an address on 5th Street in Stevensville shortly after midnight on Dec. 25. Looney allegedly shot Komotios several times with a handgun; Komotios died at the scene.
Court documents state that Looney called 9-1-1 and reported that there had been a shooting and that I shot him that he tried to kill me . An investigation determined Looney knew Komotios from the time the two served together in jail.
