Tuolumne County Schools Attendance Program Recognized Statewide

Tuolumne County Superintendent Of Schools Office Sonora, CA The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office has received a distinguished honor from California Superintendent of Schools Tony Thurmond. It is one of only 20 in the state recognized as a 2021 “Model School Attendance Review Board Winner.” A School Attendance Review Board, better known by the acronym SARB, helps ensure that students are attending classes and having educational needs met, regardless of life challenges. Thurmond says, “These 19 school districts, and one county office of education, created exemplary plans and worked hard to follow through on them to help students stay engaged in their education all during the unprecedented closure of our schools due to a global pandemic.”

Tuolumne County Hosting Engineers and Scientist in Schools Week

Updated Tuolumne County Superintendent Of Schools Office Sonora, CA Professionals from dozens of companies will be instructing hundreds of local students via “zoom” as part of Engineers and Scientists In Schools week, taking place throughout this week. The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools office will be collaborating with the San Fransisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) to bring experts from a plethora of fields to help instruct students in a variety of topics. Twenty-nine classes at eight different schools totaling six-hundred and fifty students will be digitally instructed on subjects and activities such as how to solve engineering challenges to exploring shark teeth.

YES Partnership Receives $10,000 Donation For Cannabis Education

Bob White and Mel Kirk Sonora, CA The YES Partnership received a significant donation to educate Tuolumne county youth about the harmful effects of cannabis and other substance abuse. The donation will launch the “Be Smart, Stay Smart, Just Say No To Marijuana” campaign. The YES Partnership states the donation was from Mel Kirk, brother of Tuolumne County District 3 Supervisor Anaiah Kirk. He donated the $10,000 in response to the City of Sonora’s passage of the recreational marijuana sales ordinance stating he felt it was the most effective way he could help mitigate the potential negative impacts of the ordinance on children.
