Hours after former West Bengal minister Rajib Banerjee quit the Trinamool Congress, he joined the BJP after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. Former TMC leaders Rajib Banerjee, Baishali Dalmiya, Prabir Ghoshal, Rathin Chakraborti and Rudranil Ghosh joined BJP today in New Delhi. I am sure their induction will further strengthen BJP’s fight for Sonar Bangla, Shah said in posts on social media.

New Delhi: Two days after quitting the Trinamool Congress, Rajib Banerjee is likely to join the BJP on Sunday in presence of Home Minister Amit Shah.
Rajib, a former minister in Mamata Banerjee cabinet, on Friday resigned from the Trinamool Congress and as MLA of the West Bengal Assembly. He was the forest minister in the West Bengal government and represented the Domjur Assembly seat in Howrah. I have resigned as the MLA of the state assembly. I submitted my resignation letter to the speaker. I thank my party supremo Mamata Banerjee for providing me with the opportunity to serve the masses, Rajib, a two-time MLA, said in his resignation letter.

Senior TMC leader Rajib Banerjee, who recently quit the Mamata Banerjee cabinet in Bengal, on Friday resigned from the post of MLA.
Banerjee, who represented the Domjur assembly seat, met Speaker Biman Banerjee at the state Assembly and submitted his resignation letter.
“I have resigned as the MLA of the state assembly. I submitted my resignation letter to the speaker. I thank my party supremo Mamata Banerjee for providing me the opportunity to serve the masses,” Banerjee, a two-time MLA, said.
