Officer thanks bravery of Alan Edwards victims | Lancaster And Morecambe Citizen

Susan Waring BRAVE victims who suffered at the hands of killer Alan Edwards have been thanked for their courage throughout the trial into Susan Waring’s murder. In a statement released after sentencing, Det Ch Insp Pauline Stables from Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team described Edwards as a ‘violent man’ who was a ‘danger’ to the women in his life. Throughout the course of the trial women who had previously been in a relationship with the killer gave evidence about the trauma the suffered at his hands. DCI Stables said: “I must commend and pay tribute to all of Edwards’ other victims for coming forward and sharing their traumatic experiences with us. They have shown real courage, particularly considering that some of them are still frightened of him to this day, such is the fear he has instilled into them.

Transit van driver, 25, is charged with murder over e-scooter death

04:51 EDT, 13 February 2021 Ben Smith, pictured, of Walton-le-Dale, pictured, was killed on Thursday after he was struck by a Ford Transit Van while riding his e-scooter through Bamber Bridge A man is due to appear in court today on suspicion of murdering a e-scooter rider with his Ford Transit van.  Samuel Bretherton, 25, of Leyland, Lancashire is accused of the murder of Ben Smith, 20, in Bamber Bridge on Thursday afternoon.  Bretherton is accused of hitting Mr Smith, from Walton-le-Dale, with his van, killing him instantly.  Shortly before the fatal incident, a wing mirror on Bretherton s van was broken. A man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and has been released under investigation. 

Murder investigation launched after man dies after crash

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 20-year-old man died in a crash. Police were called to Station Road in Bamber Bridge at shortly before 1pm today (February 11) following reports of a crash between a man and a vehicle. Sadly, the victim, a 20-year-old man from Walton le Dale, who was on an e-scooter, died a short time later as a result of his injuries. A 25-year-old man from Leyland, believed to be the driver of a Ford Transit van involved, has been detained on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. Police enquiries remain at a relatively early stage and they are appealing for witnesses.
