Green Bay Booyah drop season opener, home opener tonight

By Jim Scott FOND DU LAC, Wis.  – The Green Bay Booyah started the season off on the wrong foot as they fell to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, 13-3.  It was a tough debut for starting pitcher Phil Healy. He was unable to find the command as he only went 0.2 innings, giving up six walks and allowing three runs. Juan Gonzalez was also shaky in relief as he gave up seven hits, seven earned runs with three walks.   The Dock Spiders were able to score a run in every inning with the exception of the bottom of the eighth innings.

Green Bay Booyah open season today in Fond du Lac

By Jim Scott FOND DU LAC, Wis.  – The Green Bay Booyah will begin the Tristin Toorie era on Monday afternoon in Fond du Lac as the Northwoods League returns to a 72-game schedule this summer after a shortened season last year.   Toorie, an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Anderson University in South Carolina, was named manager on December 17, 2020, replacing Tom Carty. Toorie’s seven-year coaching career has included stops at Erskine College, Alcorn State, Eastern Kentucky and Presbyterian College. Joining Toorie from Anderson University on the Booyah coaching staff is Dylan Southerland. A former Coastal Plain League pitcher, Southerland spent two seasons as the pitching coach at a South Carolina high school. Southerland will be the bullpen coach and first base coach.

Booyah roster building continues

ASHWAUBENON, Wis.  – The Green Bay Booyah are pleased to announce the additions of Daunte Stuart, Connor Smith, Nathan Blasick and Braden Babcock. With these four signings the roster stands at 22 players. NSU 19 Daunte Stuart The 5-11 Stuart is enjoying his Covid-freshman season at Northwestern State. He has had a great spring thus far, hitting .312 in 26 games, all starts. The Texas native has driven in 15 runs, with six doubles and four long balls. He has also scored 12 runs, drawn 19 walks, and has stolen two bases. Earlier this season, Stuart hit safely in ten straight games. During his hitting streak he homered in three straight games and four times in five games. Last Tuesday, for the third time this season, Stuart walked three times as he went 2-for-2 in a win over LSU-Alexandria. In his COVID-shortened freshman year, he started in all 16 games he played and finished third on the Demons in batting average at .281. He hit safely in nine straight games and doubled
