The LTNs (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) in the London Borough of Ealing are causing controversy between the council and residents as these restrictions make driving almost impossible, damage the local economy and continue to cause issues for local residents. The LTN barriers block the entry and exit of certain roads in Ealing, using flower pots and bollards. The idea behind them was to reduce vehicle traffic, lower pollution and create safer and quieter neighbourhoods. They were also designed to make roads more accessible for wheelchairs, pedestrians and cyclists, as well as families with young children. The first issue with the LTNs is the fact they appeared almost overnight, with no consultation with residents beforehand over whether they are desired or not. Although it may make roads safer, the negative effect on local retail cannot be disputed; many local and family run businesses are forced to trade online, as their stores are now inaccessible to customers unable to walk t
