A 25-year-old former University of Idaho student has been charged with a felony for allegedly raping a woman in Moscow last Winter. Matthew Derting of Ephrata is charged with forcible sexual penetration by use of a foreign object in Latah County Second District Court.  According to court documents Moscow Police believe that Derting sexually assaulted the female UI student inside his apartment in December.  Derting was immediately kicked out of his fraternity and appears to have dropped out of school and returned to his hometown. He had his initial court appearance Wednesday and is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing next month.
