Forecasters warn of continued cold weather threat in Lubbock
The region s slow climb out of sub-zero temperatures has begun, but frigid and icy conditions will linger in Lubbock and around the South Plains through the end of the week.
After bottoming out with a daily record low of 0 degrees Monday morning in Lubbock and even colder temperatures around the South Plains, another night in the single digits was expected early Tuesday, followed by daytime highs around a relatively warm 32 degrees Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Lubbock. We re not going to start coming out of this cold air until Friday and start to see a lot of those icy conditions start going away, said Marissa Pazos, a meteorologist with the weather service in Lubbock.
