FREE COVID-19 TESTING EVENT SCHEDULED FOR LAFAYETTE COUNTY ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1

An area health department will be conducting a free COVID-19 testing event on Monday, February 1. According to the Lafayette County Health Department officials, the event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lafayette County Healthcare Collaborative of Rural Missouri at 825 South Business Highway 13 in Lexington. HEALTH DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR GIVES UPDATE ON COVID-19 VACCINE

An area health department has given some doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. According to a new release, the Lafayette County Health Department has administered 48 doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine to individuals within the county. Director Tom Emerson says, “We currently have more vaccine on order but we do not know yet when we will receive our next shipment.” Emerson also says, “We are required to follow a staged and tiered approach to vaccine administration, and therefore responses will not be kept in any type of order as to the time completed. We will do our best to contact individuals that fall within the proper priority groups when vaccine is available to them. The availability of vaccine to LCHD is extremely limited at this time.”

HEALTH DEPARTMENT GIVES UPDATE ON COVID-19 VACCINATION PLAN

NUMBER OF ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19 CONTINUE TO DROP

-SALINE As of January 2, 2021, the Saline County Health Department had confirmed 2,225 cases of the virus. With 2,052 cases currently inactive and 44 deaths, 129 cases remain active. -CARROLL As of December 30, the Carroll County Health Department had confirmed 807 total cases of the virus. With 750 cases released from public health isolation and 22 deaths, 35 cases remain active. -CHARITON More cases of recoveries than new cases were reported in Chariton County on Saturday. According to the Chariton County Health Center, three new cases were reported and seven cases were released from public health isolation. This makes a total of 672 COVID-19 cases in Chariton County. With 584 of those cases released from public health isolation, and 15 deaths, 73 cases remain active.
