A Lafayette County man is in jail, charged with killing his wife on Friday in Oxford Mississippi, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.
OXFORD - A Lafayette County man was arrested Monday and charged with stealing a tractor.
Oxford police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Old Taylor Road May 17 for the theft of a tractor. Officers located the tractor in question in a nearby parking lot and made contact with Matthew Hancock, 38, of Oxford.
After further investigation, Hancock was arrested, charged with grand larceny and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set his bond at $10,000, but he will not be getting out soon, because the Mississippi Department of Corrections has placed a hold on him.

OXFORD - A Lafayette County woman is behind bars after an infant s blood tested positive for drugs.
Oxford police spokesman Breck Jones said the department was notified March 8 by Child Protective Services about an investigation into Lashetta Nicole Hickinbottom. A newborn that was in her care tested positive for amphetamines.
As a result of the investigation, police obtained a warrant. Hickinbottom, 35, of Oxford, was arrested without incident April 5 and charged with child neglect. She was carried to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where she is being held on a $20,000 bond set during her initial appearance in Lafayette County Justice Court.

According to the Oxford Police Department, on Jan. 22, officers took a report of damage being done to a vehicle at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Old Taylor Road.
Investigators were called to the scene.
Shortly afterward, Amari Dyasia Burt, 24, of Oxford, was arrested without incident and charged with felony malicious mischief for damaging the vehicle.
She was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where she was booked on a $2,500 bond.
