Three indicted in deadly September shooting

A Lafayette Parish grand jury on Wednesday handed up three indictments in the September shooting that left a man dead.
Damien George, 18, died after being shot at a location in the 800 block of North University. He had been shot several times in the chest, and police provided a surveillance photo of the suspect in the shooting. A few days later, police arrested a 17-year-old male and booked him with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting, but did not release his name. Not long after that, two other men were booked with principal to second-degree murder in the case.

A Carencro man was arrested Friday for attempted second-degree murder in connection to an incident on Joli Road in Lafayette Parish.
The Sheriff s Office says that 33-year-old Reginald K. Francis was arrested on January 8, in connection to an incident that occurred earlier that same day.
Deputies say that a juvenile was involved in the incident and that no other details were available.
Francis was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of attempted second degree murder.

A Louisiana man who was stabbed, mutilated and tortured by a Grindr date wants his assailant charged with a hate crime for the brutal attack.
Holden White, 19, of Lafayette, La., ended up in a coma for three days last June after arranging a date with Chance Seneca, a man he met on Grindr. The two had exchanged messages on the popular gay dating app for about a month before agreeing to meet on June 20.
