State Police release details of I-10 chase that ended in fiery fatal crash LA DOTD and last updated 2021-01-14 11:57:10-05 Louisiana State Police have released details on a two-vehicle fatal crash on Wednesday that resulted in one fatality. State Police says that on January 13, 2021, shortly after 8:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on I-10 westbound near Louisiana Avenue. The crash claimed the life of an unidentified driver. An investigation by State Police revealed a deputy with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen 2016 Dodge Charger in Iberville Parish. The driver allegedly refused to stop and a pursuit ensued, continuing west into St. Martin and Lafayette Parishes.

Brock Johnson, 22, was killed in the December 10th fire on St. Benjamin Street in Lafayette. Johnson was inside the home with his mother, stepfather, siblings, and other relatives when the fire happened. Those relatives heard a loud boom coming from Johnson s bedroom before they noticed the fire. Everyone else in the house escaped. The State Fire Marshal s Office and the Lafayette Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire. The Lafayette Parish Coroner s Office is investigating the cause of Johnson s death.
