Lafayette Parish Correctional Center sees increase in COVID-19 cases and last updated 2020-12-15 10:05:54-05 The Lafayette Parish Sheriff s Office say that the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center has seen a rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases among inmates and staff. The Sheriff s Office says that currently 12 housing units are under quarantine due to positive COVID-19 cases or inmates being quarantined for precautionary measures. Those 12 units, they say, make up 40 percent of LPCC s inmate population. 199 inmates are currently under quarantine, according to the sheriff s office, and 69 of those have received results indicating they have tested positive for COVID-19. 14 of the 69 inmates have mild symptoms and the sheriff s office says that the remaining 55 are asymptomatic.
