Shehbaz Sharif files contempt petition against six FIA, airport officials
Opposition leader says state departments, agencies are being used as a tool for political engineering, to victimise opponents

Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Monday submitted before the Lahore High Court (LHC) a contempt petition against six officials for barring him from flying abroad despite the court’s order granting him permission to do so.
On May 8, the opposition leader was not allowed to fly to the United Kingdom via Doha from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. At the time, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials at the immigration desk had told him that he could not board the flight as his name was on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).

Inclusion, exclusion of names from blacklist DG FIA s prerogative: Fawad Chaudhry

The inclusion and exclusion of someone’s name on the blacklist is the prerogative of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director-general, said Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday.
In a tweet, the federal minister said the legal counsel of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif had given no application to the FIA DG for removal of his name from the list.
The minister maintained that the record could not be changed by verbal statements.
He said that the government will file an appeal in the court of law against this decision.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has allowed PIA to operate weekly two flights for Bahrain. Flight operation for Bahrain was suspended due to coronavirus pandemic.
According to sources, the first flight will leave for Bahrain from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport today (Friday), while the second PIA flight will depart for Bahrain from New Islamabad International Airport on May 10.
