Yet, at the rate this malaise is going, especially in the southern part of the country, we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us that it’s a time bomb. If we love ourselves, this is the time to start doing something about this problem. Everybody should also be involved – parents, guardians, religious organisations, government, policy makers – everybody!  Right now, before our own eyes, schools that are supposed to be havens of peace and tranquillity for children are turning into a nightmare, becoming launching pad for cultism. Violence is becoming a norm. Now is the time to pause, think and act.  We should no longer allow this to fester.

Abiodun bans trucks from flyovers as three die in Ogun tanker explosion

Punch Newspapers Sections Oluwatosin Omojuyigbe and Daud Olatunji Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has banned tankers and other articulated vehicles from plying flyover bridges in the state. The governor said this during a visit to the scene of a tanker explosion, which claimed three lives with six persons sustaining varying degrees of burns, in Abeokuta on Tuesday. He described the incident as sad and unfortunate. The governor also vowed that stiffer punishment would be meted out to tanker driver, who flout the order. He added that the state would soon roll out measures to check the road worthiness of vehicles, especially tankers and articulated vehicles plying roads in the state.
