Stamping Out the Scourge of Book Piracy

Against the backdrop of the scourge of piracy which has been crippling creativity and intellectual growth of authors, experts in the book industry explained why it is imperative for the Nigerian Copyright Commission to be empowered and proactive so as to make the illicit business unattractive to perpetrators. Funmi Ogundare reports Mr. Ohi Ojo , is an author who took to writing novels in 2018 because of his passion to impact lives and achieve literary success. He has so far written three books titled, ‘ Ikeke: The Home Return’, ‘Burden of Loyalty’, as well as ‘Boys Will be Boys’. Being a rookie, he never allowed this to discourage him, still he invested so much effort, time and resources in putting the literary pieces together. Ojo’s first book, ‘Ikeke: The Home Return’, published in 2018, was recently approved for use by the Lagos State Ministry of Education for JSS two students.

Let new skills reflect in teaching, Lagos tells tutors

Punch Newspapers Sections Grace Edema The Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, has urged teachers in the state to always translate new learning into teaching and classroom activities. Adefisayo, who spoke at the unveiling of the Casio Mathematics and Science Training Centre located at the  Education Resource Centre, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, explained that the lab would empower the teachers with skills needed for better teaching of Maths and other Science subjects saying  that teachers should ensure they passed on everything they would be taught into teaching. The Casio Mathematics and Science Training Centre was donated to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, ERC, by SKLD Integrated Services in partnership with Casio.

Lagos reiterates adoption of COVID-19 safety protocols in schools -

By Mary Obaebor IN a bid to prevent further spread of COVID-19 in the state as public and private schools have resumed academic activities, the Lagos State Government has reiterated that schools must adopt and strictly adhere to all safety precautionary and preventive protocols of the federal and Lagos state governments. The Director-General, Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, who gave the warming, also advised both public and private school head teachers and administrators as well as parents to adopt prompt preventive measures to avert COVID-19 infection in schools. The DG who affirmmed the position of the state government on the matter, stated that health and safety guidelines which include the provision of soap, wash hand basin, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, thermometer and instructional safety signs, must be adhered to.
