However, minutes after the winner was announced, a question came up about de Silva’s marital status.

Oshiomhole s former aide cautions political godfathers at book launch

Share The immediate past Special Adviser on Political Matters to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, while he held sway as the Governor of Edo State, Hon Charles Idahosa, on Wednesday, cautioned politicians to cultivate the act of listening more to their followers so as to avoid the pitfalls in politics. Idahosa who also served as the Commissioner for Information in the administration of Governor Lucky Igbinedion, gave the admonition at the unveiling of a book he authored. The book, titled, “The Fall of The Last Godfather” was presented to the public by a retired broadcaster, Mr Ogie Ogedegbe, alongside the electronic version of the book, a compendium of the interviews and speeches made by the author in the heat of the political crisis which engulfed the Edo politics toward the end of the first term of the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki.

South West: PDP moves to avert crisis

Share The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved to avert looming crisis in the party in the South-West zone. Following the uncertainty bedevilling its planned congress, the party is now involved in a frantic effort to bring together the contending sides in the Zone including Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde and former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose. A meeting will be scheduled which will also involve the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus other members of the NWC and the Senator Bukola Saraki-led National Reconciliation Committee. The PDP said it took the decision after an extensive meeting and has scaled up processes for reconciliation and as it affects the zone.

Soyinka pays condolence visit to Odumakin s widow

Share Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to the widow of late Afenifere Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, at their residence in the Omole area of Lagos. Soyinka described late Odumakin as a persistent and brave fighter. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Odumakin, 56, died on Friday after battling with respiratory problems occasioned by COVID-19 complications. In the condolence register, Soyinka said: “Farewell to a doughy fighter”. Similarly, a former Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Dimeji Bankole, said late Odumakin struggled for human rights and lived till the end. “Thank you for everything and rest in peace,” he prayed.
