Punch Newspapers Sections Published 2:15 pm The Lagos State Waterways Authority has begun to deploy recently recruited water guards to various jetties and terminals within the state inland waterways. A press statement titled ‘LASWA deploys 60 newly recruited water guards’ and signed by the General Manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, said the newly employed officers were to boost the operational outreach of the agency. He said they had been deployed to jetties where there were inadequate personnel and areas with no LASWA presence. According to the statement, the new water guards have undergone various training on Basic Waterways Safety Rules, Jetty Operational Procedures and conflict resolution to ensure adequate safety compliance by boat operators and ferry passengers in the waterways and at jetties.
