The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Cancer Enlightenment and Support Foundation, Mr Adegboyega Adepitan, has said the disease is not a death sentence, saying it is treatable if discovered early.
The 77-year-old cancer survivor said this at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, during the third anniversary of the Foundation, held at the children cancer ward of the hospital.
He said, “When I was 70-year-old in 2014, I had colon cancer, stage three. I had to travel to India for treatment. By God’s grace, I survived the ailment and that is why I started this non-governmental organisation to extend our hand of help to those who have cancer.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday condemned the abduction and killing of security operatives by terrorists and bandits, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to end his ‘lethargic’ approach by taking urgent steps to tackle terrorism in the country.
The main opposition party also called for an inquest into the role played by the police in the killing of David Ntekim-Rex by suspected armed robbers at Jibowu, Lagos State.
The party also urges the president to listen to the voice of Nigerians, and rejig the security system.
The PDP also lamented that the escalated acts of terrorism in the country has now worsened by incessant attack on security operatives, the latest being the abduction of no fewer than 18 police operatives by bandits in Kaduna State, “further highlighted by the failures of the president to coordinate an effective fight against terrorism in the country.”

”For those of us in the health sector, we have lost quite several colleagues.
Across the country, we have lost not less than 20 doctors in the last one week,” chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) FCT chapter, Dr Enema Amodu said during a recent news conference.
Daily Trust findings also shows that because of the high rate of infections amongst medical personnel, with hundreds testing positive across the country, some hospitals have had to scale down their services.
Checks by our reporters revealed that doctors who are not infected are overworked in hospitals where services have not been affected.
