In view of the harsh reality of the havoc that poverty, if allowed to flourish, could unleash on the world that Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has made poverty eradication a foremost goal of his administration’s ‘Greater Lagos’ blueprint. x Lagos, being the country’s economic, industrial and commercial hub, could experience untoward social-economic consequences if Nigeria’s poverty and unemployment situation is not frontally addressed. Since Lagos State is home to about 21million Nigerians, it is safe to affirm that the State, which is the fifth largest economy in Africa, feels the brunt of the menace of youth employment the most. That Lagos alone accounts for over 70% of national industrial investments makes it attractive to job seekers from all across the country.

SETF Boss Lauds Lagos State Govt on Infrastructural Development, Economy

Mary Nnah The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Mrs. Tejumola Abisoye, has lauded the Lagos State Governor for exhibiting unusual bravery in the face of daunting economic challenges to invest in massive infrastructural development, even as the national economy is still recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The commendation was contained in a media statement made available to THISDAY, following an interview granted by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to Channels Television, where he enumerated the many physical projects that the administration is currently undertaking. Sanwo-Olu said, amongst other things, that the Lagos Rail Project would cost over N100 billion, a project that is a first by any sub-national government in Africa.
