Immediate past Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to take urgent steps in seeking assistance in the wake of the spikes in killings across the country.
Saraki stated this yesterday in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abuja.
The former federal lawmaker was reacting to activities of gunmen in some states of the federation in the past few days which culminated in the loss of lives and properties.
The statement read: “It is obvious that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, the government need help. They have been overwhelmed by the situation and they sure need assistance from all. Thus, I urge Mr President to seek help wherever it can be given. Some Nigerian celebrities have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer immediate solutions to insecurity in the country.
The likes of Banky Wellington, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Uti Nwachukwu and Leo Da Silva took to their Twitter handles to lament the recent violent bloodshed across states.
Banky W in his outrage said ‘unfit for office persons were calling the shots in Nigeria.
Agreeing with Banky’s assertions, Uti Nwachukwu described the situation in the country as depressing.
Other celebrities also vented their frustration over the nation’s security situation on Twitter.

“This matter has gone beyond what the government can handle alone,” Saraki said, noting that the Nigerian government is “overwhelmed by the situation.”

Saraki was reacting to the multiple attacks, killings and kidnaps that happened with 24 hours news cycle between Sunday and Monday. He said it is “one of the saddest days in recent memory.” x

On Tuesday, hoodlums attacked a federal high court in court, torching the library and security sections of the court.
