NASA lands Perseverance rover on the Mars surface, carrying the first helicopter for another planet

NASA successfully landed its fifth robotic rover on Mars on Thursday, with the U.S. space agency confirming that Perseverance touched down safely on the red planet s surface.
The rover is the most technologically advanced robot NASA has ever sent to Mars. The agency aims to spend nearly two years using it to explore the surface.
Perseverance is also carrying a small helicopter named Ingenuity, which NASA plans to use to attempt the first flight on another planet.

SpaceX plans two Falcon Heavy launches this year for the U.S. Space Force in July and October, and United Launch Alliance has four national security space missions on its 2021 schedule, according to a military spokesperson.
The Falcon Heavy missions are expected to be the fourth and fifth flights of SpaceX’s triple-core heavy-lifter. Both launches will take off from pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Feb. 8 (UPI) Greece s first F-16V fighter plane is on its way to Texas for final tests after upgrades, the Greek defense ministry announced.
The Lockheed Martin-built plane, known as the Viper and one of 84 to be improved for the Hellenic air force, was delivered in 2009 as an F-16C, and was modified to F-16V standards at the Hellenic Aerospace Industry s Tangara facility.

This week the Japanese Ministry of Defense announced that it is looking to deploy the F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike fighter to additional Air Self-Defense Bases across the home islands.
